Congratulations to our girls team and boys/mixed
team on reaching the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Division 5 county final. This
is the first time our school has reached the final and is a big achievement in
the most competitive division (two teacher schools) of nearly forty schools in
Mayo. The finals are on Wednesday June 4th
4.15 Division 5 Girls: Derrinabroc v Robeen
4.45 Division 3 Boys: Cooneal v Charlestown
5.15 Division 5 Boys: Derrinabroc v Carra
5.45 Division 3 Girls: Kilmaine v Charlestown
6.30 Division 4 Boys: Lisaniska v Straide
7.15 Division 4 Girls: Tuar Mhic Éadaigh v Kilmovee
8.00 Division 1 Boys: Claremorris BNS v St. Pat’s Castlebar
They will be in MacHale Park itself, unless something changes that in the meantime, which can happen, and we have no control over that. If MacHale becomes unavailable we will have to play them on the adjoining Castlebar Mitchels pitches where you were yesterday. .
Supporters, teachers or subs will not be permitted on the pitch and team mentors must remain on the sideline and please do not invade the pitch at full time. We would ask parents to supervise children in the stands and not permit them to be racing up and down the steps.
Players and mentors will receive a free programme each and after that programmes are on sale to the general public at €1. Admission to the finals is €3 per adult or €5 per family. All children are free.
St.Colmans N.S. Derrinabroc was built in 1987 in an amalgamation of the Cloontia and Derrinacartha national schools. The school is located in Mayo but our area borders Roscommon and Sligo and is part of the Ballaghaderreen parish. For the first time in the school’s history we have reached the boys Cumann na mBunscol football final with our girls team also making the same history this year! We won the area 8 for the second time in three years beating Barnacogue, Tavrane, Tavneena and Kilkelly. On the road to the final we faced Culmore in the quarter final before a thrilling contest with Murrisk in the semi final. This is the first time ever we are in the Cumann Na mBunscol County final. We played Tavneena, Tavrane and Kilkelly to win the local Area 8 title for the second year in a row. We had a hard fought battle in the semi final with Cogaula. Follow us on twitter @derrinabrocns and also check our blog on http://derrinabrocns.scoilnet.ie.
